How do I become a Pet Day client?

Accepted Answer

Start by creating your dog's profile at petdayboarding.com/register. Tell us about your dog's personality, health, routine, and preferences. We review every profile personally and reach out within 1-2 business days to discuss next steps. New and unknown dogs may require a temperament evaluation or Meet and Greet before group daycare. Established Pet Day dogs we already know may be pre-approved and do not need to start the process over.

Do existing Pet Day clients need a new evaluation?

Accepted Answer

No. Dogs that Pet Day already knows and has an established relationship with do not need to start over. If you are returning after a long absence or your dog's behavior has changed significantly, we may want to do a brief check-in - but established Pet Day dogs are not treated as new unknowns.

Question 3

What happens during a temperament evaluation?

Accepted Answer

A temperament evaluation is a relaxed, low-pressure introduction. We observe how your dog interacts with our team, their comfort level in a new environment, and how they respond to other dogs at a safe distance. It is not a pass-or-fail test - it is how we learn what your dog needs to have a great experience.

How are playgroups selected?

We group dogs by temperament, play style, energy level, size, age, familiarity with other dogs, behavior history, individual comfort, and staff observations. Dogs are never simply sorted by weight and put in a room together. Staff always make the final safety decision, and playgroup composition can change throughout the day based on what we observe.

Does my dog have to play with other dogs?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Not every dog is a social butterfly, and we never force participation. Dogs who prefer solo time, need a break, or do better with one-on-one interaction always have a quiet space available. We follow their lead.

Question 6

What if my dog prefers quiet time?

Accepted Answer

That is completely fine and we plan for it. Dogs who prefer calm environments, decompression time, or individual enrichment over group play are accommodated. We have spaces for active dogs and spaces for quieter dogs - your dog does not have to participate in anything they are not comfortable with.

Is Pet Day crate-free?

Accepted Answer

We minimize crating and prioritize open, comfortable spaces that feel like home rather than a kennel. Crating may be used in specific situations where it is appropriate for an individual dog's safety or comfort - for example, a dog who is recovering from surgery or who finds a crate genuinely calming. We never use crating as a default management tool.

What health information do you require?

We collect health and vaccination information for every dog and determine eligibility based on the dog's health, safety considerations, applicable requirements, and Pet Day's care policies. We will confirm specific requirements during your onboarding process.

Question 9

Where do boarding dogs sleep?

Accepted Answer

Boarding dogs sleep in comfortable, private spaces - not stacked kennels. We keep the environment calm and quiet overnight so dogs can actually rest. You are welcome to bring a familiar blanket or toy from home.

Question 10

Can dogs from the same household stay together?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in most cases. Dogs from the same household who are comfortable together can share a space during boarding. Let us know during intake and we will make arrangements.

Question 11

What should I bring for boarding?

Accepted Answer

A familiar blanket or toy from home is always welcome. Bring your dog's regular food if they are on a specific diet. We will confirm everything you need in your pre-boarding checklist. Please label all personal items.

Question 12

Can I bring my dog's food?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we encourage it for dogs with dietary needs or sensitive stomachs. Bring enough for the full stay, pre-portioned if possible, with clear feeding instructions. We follow your instructions exactly.

Will I receive photos and updates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We send photo updates and check-ins throughout the day - not just a single end-of-day summary. If anything unusual comes up - a change in appetite, a minor scrape, anything - we will contact you right away. You should never have to wonder how your dog is doing.

Question 14

What are Pet Day Report Cards?

Pet Day Report Cards are daily summaries of your dog's visit. They include mood, activities, playmates, meals, water intake, potty breaks, enrichment, rest, photos, and staff notes. You receive a report card at the end of each daycare day and throughout a boarding stay.

Can Pet Day administer medications?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide medication support for dogs on prescribed treatments - oral medications, topical applications, and similar. We document everything and follow your vet's instructions exactly. Please include all details in your dog's profile.

Do you offer bathing and grooming?

Yes. Bathing is available as an add-on to any daycare or boarding stay. Full grooming availability is confirmed by appointment - contact us to discuss your dog's needs and current availability.

Do you offer pickup and drop-off transportation?

Yes. Pet Day transportation provides safe, comfortable pickup and drop-off service so your dog can enjoy Pet Day even when your schedule makes it difficult. Contact us to discuss availability and service area.

How do I book transportation?

Contact us by phone or email to request a pickup or drop-off. We will confirm availability and schedule. Regular daycare clients can set up a recurring pickup schedule.

How do I access the Pet Day App?

What are your cancellation and holiday policies?

Accepted Answer

Our cancellation policies are being finalized and will be published here and in your welcome materials. Holiday and peak boarding periods fill quickly - we will communicate peak dates and reservation windows directly to current clients. We recommend planning ahead for major holidays.
